Koç University’s research mission is to contribute to the universal body of knowledge and influence intellectual, technological, economic and social developments on a global scale. Faculty members contribute to their fields both individually and in strategically designed cross-disciplinary teams.


Research Centers and Labs

Conducting scientific and applied research, proposing policies in various arenas and disseminating academic knowledge in social, economic and legal spheres, Koç University’s research centers are a uniquely powerful dimension of the institution’s emphasis on research.  Undergraduate students work alongside faculty members on research projects. These research activities enhance their creativity and acuity for research. Similarly, Koç University’s Graduate Programs have a powerful research component, interweaving superior academics with required research experience.


Faculty Member Profile

95% of our faculty members have received their PhD degrees from the top universities of Europe and US. Most of them worked as faculty members in leading American and European universities before coming to Koç University. The number of publications per faculty member atKoç University is one of the highest amongst other Turkish universities. 11 faculty members are principal, 1 faculty member is emeriti and 4 faculty members are associate members of The Turkish Academy of Sciences. As of 2011, 10 faculty members received TÜBİTAK Science Award, 1 received TÜBİTAK Special Award, 21 received TÜBİTAK Encouragement Award, 3 received TÜBA Encouragement Award and 37 received TÜBA GEBİP Award.


Supported Research Programs

Koç University organizes research programs for high school, undergraduate and graduate students to conduct research with Koç University Faculty Members. Koç University Postdoctoral Fellowship program supports post doctoral fellows. The program is designed to support the scholarly development of all qualified candidates who are committed to university careers. 


Sponsored Research Projects

The total number of externally funded projects has  increased over the years at Koç University and by the end of 2011 total number of funded projects are 293 and the total granted amount has reached to 60 milion TL. Our University aims to increase the number and variety of projects funded by national and international institutions. Research and Project Development Directorate develops and administers sponsored research projects.
