Dear KU Faculty Members and Instructors,
Sharing video recordings of your online classes for on-demand viewing allows students to watch these videos at their own available time and pace, and as many times as they need.
We do not recommend sharing the videos on F-Drive or on Blackboard directly as the viewing quality may not be optimum for your students.
Please remember these before sharing your videos with your students:
- It is important to share the videos from the platform that is convenient for your students to access, to watch and to download.
- Once you select the platform, it is necessary to continue to use it for helping your students to create a habit for studying. Students can save time and study more effectively if they reach the videos from the same platform all the time.
Please follow the following steps on how to upload the videos in different platforms that yare available (Microsoft Teams, Zoom or Panopto) at KU:
MS Teams recordings:
- When you record your class session by using “Meet Now” or a scheduled “New Meeting” feature of the platform, the link to the video is automatically visible in the class Posts area to all students.
- Your students can watch the video later directly as many times as they wish from Teams.
- If you use Blackboard for file sharing, and would like to have the video available in Blackboard, instead of uploading the video to Blackboard, share the MS Teams link only for optimum viewing experience.
- Check out this document for further info about how to proceed:
- MS Teams: Record a meeting
- MS Teams: Share video recording on Blackboard
Zoom recordings:
- When you record your class session, the recording is -stored on Zoom cloud.
- Alternatively, you can save the recording to your hard disk and upload to Panopto for optimum viewing experience.
- Instead of uploading the video directly to Blackboard directly, share the Panopto link or Zoom cloud link for optimum viewing experience. Blackboard has a menu on the left column of the page. When you or your students click on the [“Course Videos”|]item on the menu, it will take you to the Panopto cloud page reserved for your course. You can upload your videos so that your students can watch them later easily.
- Video recording is stored 30 days in the Zoom cloud. You then have 30 days before that recording expires – 30 days to download the video file and upload it to Panopto.
- Check out this document for further info:
[Zoom: Record a meeting to a local disk|]
Videos on your disk:
- If you have previously recorded videos, upload them to Panopto for optimum viewing experience.
- If you use Blackboard for file sharing and would like to have the video available in Blackboard, instead of uploading the video to Blackboard directly, share the Panopto cloud link only.
