We plan to have all restaurants open.

What are the rules to be followed in terms of mask and social distance in the cafeteria, food court and other dining areas?

It is mandatory to wear masks while waiting in line. Please make sure to follow the distance signs on the floors and pay attention to the need to not create clusters.

Meals should be completed as soon as possible and the person who finished his/her meal should wear a mask.

Please also make sure to clean your hands before and after eating.

Will there be new rules regarding entry to the campus?

All students, faculty and staff are now not required to fill out the Self-Checker App to enter the campus anymore but are required to present their KU ID and have it scanned upon entry to the campus. In order for the vaccine, immunity and PCR tests to be automatically checked during your ID scan, your HES code and current contact number that will be valid during the scan must be submitted via the Self-Checker application. We recommend that you submit your HES code and contact information before you come to the campus and check whether you have permission to enter the campus via the Mobile application. Detailed information will be shared with you by our Information Technologies Department in a separate announcement.

Those who experience Covid-19 symptoms, have a positive Covid-19 test, or those who are exposed to people who test positive are required not to come to the campus and highly encouraged to fill out the Self-Checker App. If you do not have these symptoms, you do not have to fill out the Self-Checker App.

Are there any new rules for visitors to enter the campus?

All visitors will also required to be either fully vaccinated or submit a negative PCR test result taken within the last 72 hours.

Will there be any change in the services provided by the maintenance and repair teams?

Ventilation systems will be serviced more often. Repair services for breakdowns (C-trackit) will continue as usual.

What hygiene and safety protocols are in place for conference halls?

  • Sanitiser stands will be placed at the entrance of each room.
  • The conference rooms will be equipped with mask disposal bins.
  • Following cleaning, common areas and frequently touched surfaces will be disinfected using agents containing sodium hypochlorite, as per the Ministry of Health.

What are the hygiene and safety protocols for restrooms?

  • All restrooms will be cleaned at frequent intervals using agents containing sodium hypochlorite as per the Ministry of Health.
  • All restrooms are equipped with warning signs.
  • Hand sanitiser stands are located at the exit of restrooms.
  • The number of individuals allowed in the restrooms may be restricted as advised by the Ministry of Health and Koç University’s Health Board.
  • Restrooms will be cleaned using chemical agents containing sodium hypochlorite as per the Ministry of Health.
  • Appropriate disinfectants will be used to clean frequently touched areas such as door handles etc.
  • The KU Health Board has given interactive Covid-19 trainings to all sub-contractor employees.
  • The checklist intervals for cleaning staff will be adjusted as needed.

What are the hygiene and safety protocols for elevators?

All elevators are equipped with warnings and signage to ensure that the maximum number of persons allowed per square metre as per the Ministry of Health is not exceeded.

What cleaning measures are in place for frequently touched floors and surfaces on campus that pose a risk?

Following cleaning, common areas and frequently touched surfaces will be disinfected using chemical agents containing sodium hypochlorite as per the Ministry of Health. Common areas will be equipped with sanitiser stands.

What measures are in place for the ventilation systems used in the campus buildings?

In order to minimise the risk of Covid-19 across the campus, a series of changes/adjustments will be made to the operation of HVAC (Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning) systems:

  • Filter replacements and maintenance for HVAC (Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning) devices will be carried out more often.
  • All mixed-air air conditioning units will be adjusted to operate using 100% fresh air.
  • Fan coil units and VRS systems that circulate indoor air will be deactivated.
  • Ventilation devices will be switched on 1 hour before lessons/working hours and switched off 1 hour later. The exhaust system will operate 24/7. This will prevent air transmission between different spaces.
  • Irrespective of mechanical ventilation, areas with windows will be ventilated with fresh air at regular intervals.
  • All areas where no ventilation is available (by means of a window or fresh air control unit) will be inaccessible for use.

What measures are in place for the shuttles and employee buses?

The measures for the use of shuttles and buses will not be limited to the measures recommended by the Ministry of Health but will also include measures recommended by KU’s Health Board.

The Occupational Safety Unit will check shuttles and buses more often.

Mask wearing is compulsory inside the vehicles.

Hand sanitisers will be available inside the vehicles and must be used when getting on and off the vehicle.

Air-conditioning will not be switched on inside the vehicles.
