What Covid-19 measures are in place in the dormitories?

  • Each student will have 6 square metres of personal space in the dormitory rooms.
  • A distance of 1.5 metres will be kept between the beds and desks in the dormitory rooms.
  • The number of individuals allowed in the common areas in dormitories will be limited in line with the 4 square metres rule per individual. The maximum capacity allowed will be indicated at the entrance of common spaces.
  • Access to areas where natural ventilation is not available will be restricted.
  • External visitors will not be allowed to enter the dormitories.
  • Information and reminders to wash hands frequently for at least 20 seconds, wear masks and use sanitisers will be available.
  • Only boarding students will be allowed to enter their respective dormitory buildings.

Are there dedicated areas in the dormitories to isolate or quarantine individuals diagnosed with Covid-19?

The Health Board will allocate dedicated rooms in the dormitories for isolation and quarantine purposes during the Covid-19 pandemic.

How will you control people coming in and out of dormitories?

External visitors will not be allowed to enter the dormitories. Only boarding students will have access to their own dormitory building.

What are rules for using the kitchen?

The kitchens will be available for use subject to specific measures. The number of individuals allowed in the kitchen areas will be limited in line with the 4 square metre rule per individual. The maximum capacity allowed will be indicated at the entrance of the kitchen.

How will you ensure social distancing in the dormitories?

6 square metres per individual in the dorm rooms and 4 square metres per individual in common areas rules will apply.

Can students who do not get along in terms of cleaning and hygiene change their rooms?

No, that is not possible.

Is there fresh air circulation in the bathrooms and restrooms?

Yes.

Are visitors allowed in the dormitories?

No.

Can we use board games and gaming consoles?

No.

I am worried about sharing a room due to Covid-19. Can you guarantee me a single room?

We cannot guarantee the room types. Dormitory room plans are made based on criteria such as address and the student’s year.

Will we have access to all of the common areas and facilities in the dormitories?

Just like in common areas, the number of individuals allowed in all dormitory areas in dormitories will be limited in line with the 4 square metres rule per individual. The maximum capacity allowed will be indicated at the entrance of common spaces.

If I choose not to stay at the dormitory this year due to Covid-19, will I have problems getting a room next year?

Dormitory applications and room plans are made separately and renewed every year.

Can I get a refund? If so, how?

Refunds are made in line with the relevant clause in the dormitory guidelines.
