If officials order another shutdown because of a spike in Covid-19 cases, will classes move to a remote delivery approach similar to Spring 2021?

If such a situation occurs, course delivery methods will be adjusted based on the recommendations from the Ministry of Health, Higher Education Council and the University’s respective councils. All respective parties would be informed accordingly.

If students can’t obtain a visa prior to the program start date, can they start taking courses on-line in their country?

Students are expected to obtain approval from the Dean of Students before the classes begin.

As an international student, can I return to my home country and complete my academic work remotely?

I’m an international student participating in an exchange program. Can I attend the program virtually in Fall 2021?

Incoming exchange students are expected to attend the program in person. However, students who wish to attend the program virtually will be able to do so. Students are highly advised to contact the Office of International Programs’ team (incoming@ku.edu.tr) regarding their decisions before the start of the semester.

If I miss the Orientation Days due to travel restrictions from my country to Turkey what should I do?

If you predict that it might be a case, please notify your contact person at KU (faculty, graduate school, Newcomers’ Office, or the OIP) before the orientation. They can guide you further.

Can I visit the campus before September to help make my decision about accepting my admission offer?

Yes, you can visit in small groups of 2-3 people (usually family members) by first requesting a visit from study@ku.edu.tr. Campus visits are scheduled for Fridays every week until September 10, 2021 for 30 minutes between 09:30 am and 4:30 pm. You will be sent a confirmation email with instructions on how to reach our campus and how to prepare your HES code. The visits include an overview of campus outdoor facilities and answering questions related to your admission or program of interest. We can connect you via email with one of our current international students if you would like to ask questions from them.

If I continue my education online in Fall 2021 semester, how can I follow social/cultural activities offered by the university?

Follow the websites and Instagram accounts of Sevgi Gonul Cultural Center (www.sgkm.ku.edu.tr) and International Community Services Office (www.ico.ku.edu.tr). Make sure that you follow the Instagram accounts of Student Clubs & Societies that you are interested in. Also stay on the lookout for announcements coming through KU Daily.
