Awards and HonorsDr. Ayşen Üstübici, Assistant Professor of Political Science, at the College of Administrative Sciences and Economics received a grant from the “UNIC Engaged Research Seed Fund” for her research project titled “Displacement and Emplacement of the Highly Skilled Migrants Including Refugees in Post-Industrial Cities.”
This research aims at producing a general framework for studying the processes of displacement and emplacement of recently arrived, highly skilled migrants (including but not limited to those officially categorized as refugees) to post-industrial cities. Going beyond the forced–voluntary migration binary, together with partners from Erasmus University Rotterdam, Ruhr-University Bochum, University of Oulu, University of Deusto Faculty of Social Sciences, DEZIM Migration Department, Berlin, the research team will focus on professionals originating from economically and politically unstable contexts including Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Venezuela, and Syria. The research aims at the engagement of social partners such as city level policy makers and non-traditional scholars including displaced or self-exiled. Funding for this small grant program is provided through the UNIC4ER Horizon 2020 project.
We wholeheartedly congratulate Assist. Prof. Ayşen Üstübici’yi for this outstanding accomplishment and best wishes for her continued success.
