The Cure for Cancer May Be Hidden in Our Biological Clock Research

The Cure for Cancer May Be Hidden in Our Biological Clock

Prof. Halil Kavaklı and his team from the Chemical and Biological Engineering, and Molecular Biology and Genetics Departments succeeded in discovering a molecule that can delete from the cell one of the basic components of the biological clock which regulates the sleep cycle. Thanks to the molecule called M47, the cancer cells kill themselves and prevent the formation of cancer. Working to turn the molecule into a drug, the team made a breakthrough discovery that could cure about half of the known cancer types.
