Our President Prof. Metin Sitti, has been elected as a Member of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) in recognition of his pioneering and outstanding research contributions to engineering, related to bioinspired adhesives and small-scale mobile robotics fields.

Our president, Prof. Metin Sitti's research article 'Artificial-goosebump-driven microactuation' was published in the prestigious Nature Materials magazine. This article proposes and demonstrates a new microactuation method that achieves precise manipulation in micro/nanoelectromechanical systems, particularly related to miniature robots, biomedical devices, and microfluidic devices.

On this International Day of Women and Girls in Science, observed annually by the United Nations on February 11th to promote the full and equal access to and participation in science for women and girls, Koç University honors the journey of women in this field.

Faculty of Medicine Department of Brain and Nerve Surgery faculty member Prof. İhsan Solaroğlu has been elected as a member of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts (https://euro-acad.eu/). The European Academy of Sciences and Arts is a European non-governmental organization committed to promoting scientific and social progress. The academy brings together over 2000 distinguished scientists from all over Europe, including 32 Nobel Prize winners. Dr. Solaroğlu will receive his membership certificate at the ceremony of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, which will be held in Salzburg on 5-6 April 2024.

Prof. Halil Kavaklı from the Departments of Chemical and Biological Engineering and Molecular Biology and Genetics received the 2023 Sedat Simavi Science Award, which is given annually in the fields of journalism, literature, sports and science.
